Women Win in Towcester 22/05/11
Monday, 23rd May 2011 13:19 | Article by: Simon Wilkinson
We are pleased to say we beat Towcester by 7 wickets yesterday, and we ended up with a full 11 at the last minute thanks to Sara D, and Christina who stepped in!
We won the toss and elected to field first. The only wicket went to Sara D with an LBW. No other chances really presented themselves but we got close with Beth trying a couple of overs of spin. Towcester had 2/3 good bats and they made 164 for 1 off 40. The team felt a bit disheartened having not taken more wickets, and unsure how we would perform following the Burton llatimer game where we batted 2nd.
However, some excellent performances with the bat did us proud. With Sara D and Fitty out relatively early to their strong opener and Lucy following just before drinks, it fell to Emilia and Chloe who came in at 4 and 5 with the score at 65 for 3 off 20. Together they put on a hundred partnership, with Emilia scoring her first ever 50, and Chloe making 38 off 34 balls.
Good work all round, and keeps us one ahead of Charlbury!
