Please ensure that all boys playing in the U10 age group and above bring a protective box to training. We can provide all other protective equipment but without a box they will not be able to bat in the nets with a hard ball. Youth boxes can be bought cheaply at most sport shops.

As summer (even Spring!) hasn't kicked in yet, it can get quite cold in the evenings so please try to make sure that all youth cricketers bring adequate warm clothes to training.

Youth Cricket Introduction

Welcome to the Youth Section of Oxford Cricket Club. Youth cricket is the future of our club and the youth section aims to give young people a chance to play cricket and, whatever their level, help them to have fun, make friends and achieve their potential.

We cater for boys and girls of all abilities and age groups, from kwik cricket and basic skills for the U7's to participation in the senior Men's and Women's teams at the U15-U17 level. This season we have been running...

  • 3x U11 Teams
  • 2x U13 Teams
  • 1x U13 Girls Team
  • 2x U15 Teams
  • 1x U17 Team

All of our teams compete in local Oxfordshire Cricket Board Youth competitions against other local clubs. So, whatever your age and ability, we have some cricket for you.

We received a substantial grant from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that has allowed us to build a new three bay artificial turf net facility. This brilliant training facility has vastly increased the quality and capacity of the coaching available to all our youth members.

We have specialist male and female coaches to provide training for all abilities of cricketer. All our training/coaching sessions are lead by ECB qualified coaches who hold current First Aid and Child Protection certificates and are members of the ECB Coaches Association.  As a Clubmark accredited club, we ensure all our volunteers involved in youth cricket - coaches, team managers, umpires, scorers and helpers - are CRB checked, so that parents can be confident that youngsters are coached and play cricket in a safe environment.

In the 2012 season, we welcomed over 150 young people to play cricket at Oxford Cricket Club. Our youth season begins with indoor nets in January and our outdoor youth training begins in April at the Rover Sports ground where we run age-specific training sessions over three nights of the week until the summer holidays in July. We also run Cricket academies over the summer holidays and hold a youth fun morning at the Chairman's day at the end of the season, so while the sun shines there is no excuse to ever stop playing cricket!

If you would like any information about any aspect of Youth Cricket at Oxford Cricket club please email youth@oxfordcricketclub.com.

If we haven't already, we hope to meet you soon to play some cricket!
