A group of 30 youngsters from Oxford Cricket Club will be demonstrating their skills to thousands of England supporters during their one-day international against New Zealand at Bristol on Saturday. The boys and girls, all aged under 13, have been chosen to provide the entertainment in the interval between the two innings. "They are very excited, as it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said team manager Julian Lawton-Smith, who is also the club's chairman of youth cricket. The youngsters will be demonstrating fielding, catching and bowling skills under the watchful eye of their six coaches. "We've spent our last two sessions rehearsing for the big day, though it's close to what we're already doing," explained Lawton Smith. The invitation came via Oxfordshire's cricket development officer Rupert Evans and his Gloucestershire counterpart, as the two counties have built up coaching links over the past five years. "We're very privileged to be asked," said Lawton-Smith, who thanked Richard Wade, from Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons, for sponsoring the team.
