Last season was a successful year but also a frustrating one at the same time.

We won the county cup for the first time in the club's short history which was an excellent achievement. We showed a more structured and professional approach to the 20/20 format which paid off in a tense and soggy final!!!!

In the League, we showed a lot of knowledge and determination in putting ourselves in a great position to retain the premiership with two games to go. We let it slip in the penultimate game against the eventual champions. We must learn from that day as a group and never allow that to happen again.

Within the team there are always some notable performances and personal developments. Raj Sharma had a very satisfying first year as our overseas player, scoring good runs and contributing with his handy mediums. Franky Vainker made progress with his slow left arm with the highlight being selected for his County debut. The real success story for last season was Jack Brooks who once again made great strides and has been rewarded with his first professional contract with Northamptonshire.

Looking forward to this season we have three new arrivals, Nick Ferraby, Chris Sandbach and David Smith all batting allrounders, which will bring strength, depth and experience to our squad.

We would like to say a thank you to Pat Jobson and Adam Cook who have departed and we wish them well in their new ventures. I believe that our squad has not reached its full potential as yet, if the commitment and desire we have shown over that past two years continues it will be reached. On a personal level I would like to thank Martin McNamara from Clydesdale Bank for their continuous support in these tough ecconomic times. Also Ian Pickford, Richard Summers and John Finch for their complete trust in my methods and beliefs of how we can take the club forward and continue with our success. Lastly I would like to thank our director of cricket, Rupert Evans. Together we have formed a watertight partnership and has confirmed to me what a knowledgeable and well respected man he is.

Looking forward to our continued success
Yours in cricket
