Combe, Oxford, Thame and Warborough brought plenty of energy to the U9 Softball Festival at Marston Sports Ground on Sunday July 20th, where Oxford edged Combe 250-241 and Thame beat Warborough 252-229 in the opening round.
In the second round Warborough bounced back 235-210 against Oxford and Thame claimed their second win 250-227 over Combe. Sadly, just as the third-round fixtures (Warborough v Combe and Oxford v Thame) were about to begin, the heavens unleashed a classic British-July downpour that washed out the play, but not the smiles.
Huge thanks to the visiting teams, their enthusiastic coaches, the army of parent volunteers, and above all to Ros, whose tireless energy and organisation made the morning possible and ensured that, rain or shine, the festival was a hit for every young cricketer involved.
