Oxford CC Girls U11 - County Champions!

Oxford CC Girls U11 - County Champions!

Joe Ward18 Sep - 19:30

The Girls side emerged victorious in the final on the 7th September

The Oxford CC Girls U11 Hardball side had a great season, in a league with Goring-on-Thames, Thame and Wolvercote. They finished second in the table to set up a final against Goring-on-Thames at their ground on Sunday September 7th.

What an exciting day - won the toss and elected to field. Eight-a-side pairs cricket - Goring made 52 runs and put on a great batting show. The Oxford CC Girls fielded very well - really supporting and encouraging each other in the field. Bowling was great and thankfully wides didn't feature too much on the scorecard.

The Oxford Girls showed much strength of character and held their nerve with bat in hand. Fortified by bacon rolls during a rain interval - they resumed their innings. The scoreboard went up and down as runs were scored and wickets lost. With coach Julia unable to watch, the final pair made the runs and Oxford won by 1 run.

Many, many congratulations - a wonderful match and great play.

Thank you to Goring-on-Thames CC for hosting a much enjoyed finals day. Thank you to Julia for all her hard work looking after the team and organising fixtures in 2025. Thank you to all the coaches who helped run training sessions for the girls this season (Ben M, Ben R, Bryn, Dylan and Staf to name a few) and a big thank you to all the parents for their support (and scoring!).
