It was a perfect sunny summer Sunday when the OCC U11’s girls took to the field at
Marston Road Sports Ground/Exeter College Recreation Ground. Unfortunately
none of their opponents in the tournament were able to field a full team so the OCC
U11’s along with a handful of OCC U9 girls and a few willing brothers made up two
teams and a closely fought match ensued.

Three of the dads used the opportunity to develop their umpiring skills under
Rosalyn’s watchful eye. All players worked on their backing up skills – both when
fielding and batting. After a welcome break for tea (squash and plenty of biscuits) in
the spacious Marston Sports Ground pavilion, it was back to the field for a second
match.

A thoroughly good morning was had by all and the players voted the training
matches a resounding success. All involved are looking forward to a re-match next
year! Thank you to both Oxford University Sports Dept. and Exeter College for
allowing us to use their facilities and host the event.
