On a hot morning at Jordan Hill, the U9s ran out comfortable winners against Didcot. Every single player made major contributions at some point in the match. Even more impressive was the high energy and enthusiasm in the field, despite the high temperatures.

Oxford batted first and amassed an impressive 346 in their 20 overs. Facing probably the best bowling, Freddie did well to protect his wicket. At the other end, Henry started off the innings well with a pair of boundaries. Nirvaan and Caspian kept up the momentum, both scoring a couple of boundaries each and running well between the wickets. August and Wali made a great partnership, with August watchful and playing two particularly lovely shots that were both fielded right on the boundary rope. Wali hit consecutive sixes to start his batting. Another maximum followed by Bobby, while Eddie hit two fours in three balls. The innings finished with Archie and Alfred's characteristic aggressive running between the wickets and boundaries; Archie hit three consecutive fours.

By the time Didcot came out to bat, it was extremely hot and Oxford would have been forgiven for a lethargic fielding performance. Instead, they fielded and bowled with the same vigour as they had batted. It was great to see the team urging each other on and bowlers setting effective fields. Freddie set the tone in the opening over with a beautifully bowled wicket. Wickets followed for Nirvaan and August, and two each for Eddie and Wali. Henry's catch off Eddie's bowling was a real highlight of the match. The bowling was excellent throughout.

Didcot batted well, scoring boundaries throughout their innings. However, Oxford's total proved too much. Handshakes, biscuits, and much needed drinks concluded proceedings.
